Symmetry Nest
Symmetry, Light, and the Illusion of Direction.
Symmetry Nest
Designed within a tight 6,000 sq. ft. footprint, the Modern Farmhouse is a lesson in clarity and control—where every inch is intentional, and every line contributes to a larger rhythm.
We approached the design through a symmetrical lens, organizing the plan into a 3x3 grid, placing bedrooms at each corner to form the anchor points of the home. The central axis became a passage—not just for movement, but for visual balance—dividing the home into two clean halves.
But the real twist came with light. Instead of placing windows in the center of walls, we asked: What if the corners could breathe? By shifting window placements into the corners, we flooded the rooms with natural light, eliminating shadows and creating a sense of openness rarely found in structured layouts.
The symmetry didn't end at the walls. The landscape, courtyard, and circulation paths were designed with such balance that the building plays with perception—making it difficult to define where the “front” begins and the “back” ends.
This project is more than a farmhouse. It's a modern sanctuary shaped by geometry, defined by light, and crafted to feel timeless from every angle.
